Industrial Applications of Fuel Cells 1. Transport Applications -  The transport sector contributes a significant portion of global greenhouse gas emissions due to its dependence on fossil fuels. Fuel cells, particularly hydrogen fuel cells, offer a sustainable and efficient alternative for various modes of transport. a.  Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs): Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles use Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs) to convert hydrogen into electricity, which powers electric motors. FCEVs are similar to battery electric vehicles (BEVs), but instead of charging from the grid, they generate their own electricity onboard using hydrogen. b.  Advantages of FCEVs: Zero emissions: Only water vapor is released. c.  High efficiency: Efficiency can reach up to 60%. d.  Fast refueling: Hydrogen tanks can be refilled in 3–5 minutes, unlike long charging time  in BEVs. 2. Backup Power Systems -  Fuel cells are highly suitable for stationary...
